5 minute activitiesStudent has to talk about a given topic for a specific length of time (say, 30 seconds) WITHOUT
One student site facing away from the class. Students are picked at random to say "Good afternoon, your majesty" in their fakest or silliest voice and the one facing away has to guess who said it Start a sentence like "The minster's cat is.." and each student in a circle has to think up an adjective starting with the next letter in the alphabet, ie Angry, Bashful, Curious. One child leaves the room. The rest of the class all change positions while one remaining child hides. The original child comes back in and has to guess who's missing. Thinking of a totally mundane event, give students one minute to think up a sensationalist newspaper headline for it. Sit on chairs in a circle. Starting with a ball of twine or string, call out someone's name before passing/throwing it to them (holding on to the end). Follow this until everyone is holding some of the string - if you have a lot of time, let it go around more than once.
Now untangle the whole thing by following the string back in reverse. Chinese Whispers purple monkey dishwasher. Play "Who has it, who doesn't". Pick, in your mind, one object that a few students may have on their person (watch, shirt, socks). Start narrowing it down by saying "John has it. Ben doesn't. Homer has it. Andrew doesn't." When students think they have identified the object, they put up their hands and guess. The first person to guess it right gets to be the first in line. |
