Provide new endings to old proverbs. "An apple a day.." "The early bird.." "A bird in the hand.." "Too many cooks.."
One student calls out a noun. Another calls out a verb. A third calls out an adjective. A volunteer then makes a sentence containing all three.
Give the students unusual maths questions, like "The answer is 20", "When you multiply these two numbers, you get 20". Students give you answers in the form of a question.
What if you could change one thing about yourself? What would you change?
Simple anagram puzzles. BEAR (bare) GOAT (toga) SEAL (sale) BELOW (elbow) CARE (race)
Whisper an adjective to a student, and that student has to act out that adjective for other students to guess.
Make groups of four. Each group gets a sheet of paper and each student gets a different coloured texta. When you say 'start', one student from the team will start drawing an abstract design on the paper. After one minute is through, say "time' and the next student takes over. After four minutes you should be getting some very interesting abstract designs. Continue as necessary to fill time and increase complexity.
Arrange students into small groups. Discretely give each group the name of an appliance; they have to write down a list of instructions for using that appliance without referring to its name. Other groups try to guess the gadget from the read-aloud instructions.
