Drama warmup activitiesGather students into a big circle. One makes a little motion or a sound, the next person has to copy it exactly. Follow this all around the circle and see how it changes by the time it gets back to the first person. Everyone sits in a circle. There are 3 things that a player can be:
Students sit in a ball and one player has a tennis ball. That student passes the ball around the circle and has to think up as many words starting with a given letter as possible before the ball gets back. This is easier when the player doesn't watch the ball go around. Students in a circle. The first player pretends to throw a ball to a random other player, calling 'A!'. The receiving student must, as fast as they can, 'throw' B to another person, and so on through the alphabet. Everyone picks for themselves a bodyguard and an assassin. Without anyone knowing who they picked, including the people they picked, players move around trying to keep their bodyguard between themselves and their assassin. Students randomly walk around the room. At any point, the teacher yells "Jenny, big" or "Ben, horizontal". That student must freeze into some position relevant to the direction they were given.
All other students must mimic that freezed position until the teacher releases them. Everyone in a circle, one person as a 'caller' in the middle. The Caller randomly points to a student and gives them a letter.
The student must immediately think up a person's name, a sellable item and a location starting with that letter and call out the alliteration sentence like "Clancy sells Cranberries in Cambodia". Students order themselves from tallest to shortest.. while keeping their eyes closed. |
