One student calls out a noun. Another calls out a verb. A third calls out an adjective. A volunteer then makes a sentence containing all three.
Arrange students into small groups. Discretely give each group the name of an appliance; they have to write down a list of instructions for using that appliance without referring to its name. Other groups try to guess the gadget from the read-aloud instructions.
Write down a list of simple words with letters missing. Students work alone or in groups to be the first to decifer them all.
Students line up in alphabetical order. Reverse alphabetical order. Alphabetical to their middle names
Arrange students into groups. Give them all one challenge, like "List five things that end with the letter R". Teams have to be quiet so that their ideas aren't overheard.
Play hangman.
Write or produce a large paragraph of text. Students have to find all of the nouns/verbs/adjectives they can
Gives the students one noun. They write this at the top of a sheet of paper, then have to think of another noun that starts with the letter the previous one ends with. Continue for as much time as you have, the student with the most amount of different words wins.
